At Choice Studios

Find your ground. Make your choice.

Life is living through all of us. Some have forgotten this.

At Choice Studios is a creative practice for people ready to remember: to reconnect with themselves, with nature, and with the quiet certainty that they have a say in what comes next.

Who this is for

You are someone who thinks deeply about your life.

You’ve done the work, asked the questions, and still, some mornings, you wonder if you’re living the life you actually chose, or the one that simply accumulated around you.

You’re not lost. You’re at a threshold. That’s exactly where the work begins.

Three ways into the work

Start wherever fits. Each one is a way to practice being at choice.

DiGGn: Decision Grapple Groups

Grapple Groups

Dig in deeper. Decide better.

No one ever taught you how to decide. Not really.

Grapple Groups are small, live, weekly gatherings for people sitting with a real decision, trying to learn from one they’ve already made, or simply wanting more skill, confidence, and agency for what might come next.

You’re ready to step into your dream job, but you’ve landed two of them, and you’re not sure which to say yes to. Or you’re torn between staying in or leaving a relationship, a band, a house, or a role.

It’s just one decision, but making it feels so hard.

What most of us have is improvised: lists of pros and cons, other people’s opinions, and a gut feeling we’ve been told to ignore.

I’ve spent years watching this play out, through formal doctoral research, coaching, and interviews with people from every walk of life. True decision making agency is missing for almost everyone. And it doesn’t have to be this way.

You’ll learn how to be at choice: how to stand at the proverbial fork in the road and be aware you’re standing there, without reacting, performing, or just going along with whatever’s loudest. So you can choose from the truest part of yourself.

More peace. Less spinning. Less re-litigating the same choices at 2am. More energy left over for actually living whatever you decide.

Three groups, three ways to get better at being at choice. Pick the one that fits what you currently need or want most.

Which one fits what you need right now?

The Map

You were never taught how to decide. This is four weeks of learning a clear method: on paper, out loud, and together.

A systematic, logical, unexpectedly fun approach to decision-making, drawing included.

  • 4 weeks
  • Tuesdays, 5pm Pacific
  • Live on Zoom
What it is
For people who want a reliable method. The Map gives you a repeatable, structured process for grappling with a decision, and yes, you’ll draw it out. Turns out putting a decision on paper does something a mental pros-and-cons list can’t: it maps the actual chain of events so you can see where each option leads before you choose.
What to bring
Blank paper and writing utensils. A current and weighty decision that is running in your mind. OR a past decision that you can’t quite make sense of. OR curiosity about new techniques for making future decisions.
What you’ll walk away with
A clear process you can use on this decision, and the next one, and the one after that. Powerful language and flexible tools for individual and partner/group decisions.

The method

Human development happens in specific places.

Not in theory. Not in the abstract. But out on the land, at the edge of what is comfortable, and in the moments when a real choice is required. This is the foundation of everything at At Choice Studios.

The Living Terrain Method

Human development: with nature, at the raw edge of comfort, and through every moment of choice.

The work restores three connections.

  • With nature

The land doesn’t lie to you. That’s why we go there.

  • With discomfort

Not to suffer, but to learn what ease has been hiding from you.

  • With choice

Every moment of choice is a threshold. You get to cross it deliberately.

“She led our participants into the natural environment, and used the nature around us to help people go deeply into themselves and to explore their authentic nature. The results were remarkable, and I loved it! Anna has a level of wisdom and experience that is not often found in this world.”
David McKay, Author and retreat designer/facilitator

The unexpected moment when everything becomes clear. Beauty that arrives with force. A gift you didn’t see coming that changes everything.

This is what the work tends to produce: not on a schedule, not by formula, but reliably, for people who are willing to stay with it.

Anna Switzer, PhD

Scholar. Artist. Nature-based guide. Lifelong learner.

I have spent decades helping people find their ground and live at choice: in coaching rooms, on trails, in books, and in conversations that change things.

My work lives at the intersection of human development, decision-making, nature connection, and the creative life. I believe the world needs more people who are fully, intentionally, beautifully at choice in their own lives.

Personal growth, in the end, isn’t just for our own sake. It’s for the planet’s sake.
